Ever wanted to just do the dang thing and marry your best friend?! Well then why don’t you!
So if breaking the norms is your kind of thing, check out this styled “unconventional with and edgy flare” ocean front elopement at Cannon Beach in Oregon. From the bride wearing a non-white separates outfit, to the minimal decor and intimate ceremony- this little elopement is packed with details you won’t want to miss!
What started out as a simple model call for a casual shoot at Cannon Beach, turned into a beautifully styled, edgy yet romantic intimate elopement. The couple- Sandy and her fiancé Tyler were as adorable in person as they appear in the photos. They also are planning MULTIPLE ceremonies and events for their actual wedding in Southern California next year! So this little shoot seemed like perfect practice for them. Then, with some help from some instagram friendors (vendor friends!) we had our flowers and hair and makeup! Finally, all of the pieces Sandy wore (minus the embroidered jackets and hat) were rented from a small rental company, Opal and June. If you haven’t heard of them, you should definitely check them out for your next styled shoot or small event!
In case you’re considering the Oregon coast for your wedding or elopement, here are a few helpful tips and tricks.
– Check to see if there are any permits needed for the area you plan to go to. For Cannon Beach specifically, unless your wedding party/group is over 50 people, no special permits are needed.
– Pack for the weather and pack extra. Want to get dressed in your wedding clothes at the beach? Is your wedding in the colder winter months? Are you planning on hanging around after to enjoy the ocean? Make sure you bring changes of clothes and extra layers depending on your specific plans.
-The closer your setup gets to the ocean, the more soaked you will get. This seams obvious, but what I mean by that is take into account the shoes you will be wearing and if there are any rugs or special alter pieces that will need to stay dry. For this elopement setup, we used a thin fabric as the “altar” and within seconds it was soaked through.
-Timing and day of the week will determine the crowds you will have to work around. Obviously colder months have fewer beach goers, and weekdays are better than weekends. If you choose a weekend in the summer, just be prepared for crowds!
Lastly, check out the vendors below to see who was behind this epic and edgy themed elopement that really pushes the limits of having a “your day, your way” kind of wedding.
And scroll on through for a peek at the magic created… If you’re considering doing the dang thing on the coast- I’d love to tag along! I can also TOTALLY help with any rentals or styling assistance you may need.
