Now when I think of Cinco de Mayo I am forever going to think about this day last year- 5.5.2021 and how beautiful this romantic backyard Newberg Oregon wedding was. And I’ll still think about the tacos. Oh, and of course their sweet pup, Roxie.

It all started on an app…

Well, kind of. Even though Tia + Zak both attended the same college, they technically met because of an app. But told their parent’s that they met on campus… who later found out the truth anyways (thanks to the father of the groom for that fun fact). T + Z bonded over their love for softball/baseball and Zak’s love of rock climbing (among other things) and quickly grew to be each other’s number one supporter. Like when Tia didn’t pass her nclex exam the first time, and Zak showed up to her door with a car full of friends to cheer her up. How freaking sweet, right?!

So when these two decided it was time to make it official, they knew that keeping it simple and small with close family was important to them. And when they found Fern Creek Farm on Airbnb and saw the maple tree with the swing in the backyard, they knew it would be the perfect spot. And of course they knew that choosing the 5th of May would be extra special because it was the day that they adopted their (adorable) fur baby- who also was the perfect Pup of Honor.

T + Z promised forever on the perfect Spring day in front of their closest family and friends in the most beautiful of backyards. They followed it up with a taco bar dinner (of course) and some cake and speeches from their dads. All day their whole family truly made me feel like one of their own and even invited me to enjoy dinner with all of them (wasn’t expected but was so appreciated). Even though the past few years have been really tough for the wedding industry and the world as a whole, I’ve grown to truly love celebrations like these. The important people remembering only the important details and showing up for each other on their most important days.
