Since moving to Oregon a few years ago, the area of Bend has quickly become my favorite place to get away and explore whenever I need to get out of town. So when these two reached out to me to photograph their engagement photos (and wedding) in Bend, I was MORE than happy for the excuse to make the trek out there. When trying to decide where to take their engagement photos, Smith Rock State Park was top of my bucket list to shoot at/see in person. Luckily they both were down and we set up the details to meet for their Smith Rock engagement session.
Something I love about what I do is the ability to see and travel places that I may normally not get a chance to explore otherwise. Another perk is when I get to bring my husband and fur baby along for the adventure too. Luckily, I was able to get the best of both world’s by planning this Smith Rock meetup to coincide with a quick anniversary getaway with my little fam. (And we stayed overnight at Campfire Hotel which I HIGHLY recommend for a unique and dog friendly stay!)
The day of our session together was truly so perfect. Great weather, some light wind, and clear skies to help show off the incredible colors of Smith Rock. A huge reason why I always try to have an engagement session with my couples before their wedding is to be able to hang out with them face to face and get to know them and their story better. We had some laughs, talked about Madeline’s unique bloodstone ring, shared about travels and adventures, and explored the park while getting some super cute photos of the two of them. These two are seriously THE coolest and most adventurous couple ever- I WAS SO PUMPED to return in just a few weeks to capture their wedding at a local Bend, Oregon museum. Stay tuned for that one!😅
